Steubenville Nutcracker Village
A new holiday attraction, the Steubenville Nutcracker Village features over 100 life-sized Nutcrackers created locally in the production shop of Nelson Fine Art & Gifts. Each 6' nutcracker on display in Fort Steuben Park is uniquely hand-painted with many crafted to reflect some theme, character or aspect of Steubenville. From a Franciscan friar to a Venetian gondolier to Dr. Who, these delightful figures are appreciated by all generations. Visitors can stroll along the walkways and identify the clever designs, taking photos and selfies. The introduction of The Steubenville Nutcracker Village was overwhelmingly successful with thousands of visitors and rave reviews, but the one word used over and over again was - "MAGICAL!" Held in the park on four weekends after Thanksgiving in conjunction with the Nutcracker Village is the outdoor Advent Market featuring food, crafts and gifts by local artisans, hayrides, trolley tours of the historic downtown, and live music. The Christmas Wonderland and Gift Shop inside the Fort Steuben Visitor Center offers an opportunity to reminisce about Christmases past. To add to the fun there is a Nutcracker-themed Christmas Parade on December 10th.
